HOKKAIDO SAPPORO KEISEI HIGH SCHOOL

School Overview

Founded in 1966, Sapporo Keisei H.S. has created an environment where students work hard for academics, as well as for inquiry-based learning, various school events and club activities. Since 2010, the school has been designated by the government as a Super Science High School for three consecutive terms, and developed advanced and international academic programs for STEAM.

Sapporo Keisei H.S. is located in an area that includes Shin-Sapporo district where people enjoy the convenience of the city, Nopporo Shinrin-Koen (Forest Park), which many people visit for relaxation in untouched nature, and also an academic district where several universities are located.

Super Science High School (SSH)

Super Science High School (SSH) is a program sponsored by the Japanese Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) to upper secondary schools that prioritize science, technology, and mathematics. The program was launched as part of its "Science Literacy Enhancement Initiatives" in 2002. With increased funding, SSH schools are encouraged to develop links with universities and other academic institutions.

Sapporo Keisei H.S. has been designated as SSH since 2010, and conducting advanced science, technology, and mathematics education in collaboration with various research institutions in Japan and overseas, developing teaching methods and teaching materials, and making efforts to foster students’ international skills.
